The electric car market in Sweden rose sharply in January 2020. A point of reference is that this month, however, the pure electric vehicles did not “shine”, but the PEV surged impressive sales.

In fact, plugin electric vehicles received an impressive 31% share for the month of January. The decline in DIESEL vehicles was also a big one, since their share shrank to 22% or 17% down from last year.

The VW Passat GTE took the lead with 625 units while Kia Optima PHEV was in second place, scoring impressive sales with 486 units. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is ranked third with 427 units. Remember that Outlander was best seller vehicle last year.

But surprises continue this time from the local Volvo where with the S/V60 and S/V90 PHEV took fourth place with 413 units. In fifth place is the KIA Niro PHEV at some distance from Volvo with 351 units.

The first pure electric car is the KIA Niro EV where it ranks seventh with 282 units. See in detail below vehicle sales in Sweden for January 2020 from the EV Sales blog.
